The year is off to a very promising start for Capernaum, a film by Nadine Labaki. The month of January has seen a flurry of announcements and selections for the director and her stunning feature film.
After winning the Jury Prize, the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury and for the first time in 2018, the Citizenship Prize at the last Cannes Film Festival, Capernaum has now been nominated to be included in some of the biggest international film competitions.
First up, huge congrats! Capernaum nominated at the César Awards for Best Foreign Language Film! You can catch the awards show on February 22 at the Salle Pleyel or live on Canal +!
The film's team, however, will be attending on the other side of the Channel. The film has been selected for the 72nd British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards which takes place on February 10 and has been nominated for the Best Film Not in the English Language. This nomination is a great honor for the film's entire team:

It was also a surprise when on January 22, the names were announced for the 2019 Academy Awards ceremony and the film was nominated for Best Foreign Language Film. Here's a snapshot of the excitement generated by this unprecedented announcement:

Capernaum has also been nominated for a Motion Picture Sound Editors Award for Best Sound Effects, Foley, Dialog and Dubbing in a Foreign Language Film.
